Labels, Inspections and Guarantees
Food safety is a key issue throughout the production process of SKV Veal. ‘Food safety’ is a term that is used to indicate the safety of food in general. Since 1990 the Dutch calf sector has had an independent inspection institution, which inspects veal farms, monitors the production of veal and guarantees quality. The Foundation for Quality Guarantee of the Veal Sector (SKV) operates autonomously and independently with the voluntarily associated producers throughout the production chain.
Food safety and consumer trust are key issues and high on the agenda within the sector. The Foundation for Quality Guarantee of the Veal Sector (SKV) therefore also guarantees that all veal that it has inspected has been produced using safe and responsible methods. Numerous inspections are carried out and samples taken throughout the production process to ensure compliance with all the applicable regulations. Customers and consumers can rely on the fact that veal carrying the SKV quality label is produced safely and in accordance with the latest regulations.
Delicious and responsible meat deserves a label
The Foundation for Quality Guarantee of the Veal Sector is an independent foundation that inspects the entire chain of veal production in the Netherlands. Starting at the farm, each step in the process is monitored by independent inspectors in accordance with the latest regulations. The SKV label means premium quality and food safety.
Optimum quality, guaranteed
Thanks to these inspections the quality of the veal is always guaranteed. Veal producers in the Netherlands are voluntarily associated with the SKV. They are often subject to unannounced inspections, to check compliance with various standards in the process, and they guarantee that no undesirable or unhealthy substances are used in the production of their premium-quality veal.
As a traditional dairy country, the Netherlands has all the know-how, experience and technology to lead the field in terms of innovative developments in the areas of food safety and quality.
